In my childhood days I used to take out curry leafs from my food if I found any in my food.😜,because that time I am completely unaware of its benefits but once I grown up and come to know about its benefit,  I started adding it in many of the food items and make my daughters eat that too. 👩‍👧‍👧And the best part is it actually enhance the taste of the food.😋

    Curry leaves are packed with antioxidants that may protect your body by reducing oxidative stress and scavenging free radicals.

    How to Use curry leafs in your day to day life

    1.Can be added with heena while applying on hair. It makes the hair strong, and prevent hair-fall.

    2.It prevent premature greying of hair.💆‍♀️

    3. Good for reducing weight. I used to add good amount of curry leaf powder in my weight loss powder.

    3.Can be added in coconut chutney.

    4.Solve many stomach related problem.

    5.It treats various gastrointestinal issues diarrhea, controlling diabetes, improving eyesight, and reducing stress.Curry leaves contain various antioxidant properties which aid digestive issues

    6.U can add in mathri/suhali to give different flavor and color.

    7.Can be used in giving tadka  to  daal,kadhi,raita, idlii, sambhar  etc.

    Schools are closed, garden, park,  extra activity classes everything are closed.  2020 is very challenging for everyone. 

    We can’t send kids anywhere because of the risk of this virus, so engaging them at home is a big task for all parents.  And if we don’t engage them they just start watching phone or television.

    Because of this online classes going on for kids they are already spending so much time on phone.

    Strong immunity plays a very important role in fighting any kind of diseases or any kind of virus that are very active these days. If our immunity is strong, then there is no need to panic.

    I am preparing kadha from last one year and believe me itna satisfactory feel hota hai like we are consuming some kind of AMRIT.😛

    When i come to know about corona, that if immunity is strong you can fight against it. sachii itna aacha feel hua, that me and my family is consuming immunity booster kadha, so we are at-least safe. But being a responsible citizen of India its my duty to share the recipe with everyone.

    Ingredients Required for 2 cup:

    1.Curry leaves(metha neem) – Handful

    2.Tulsi(Basil) leaves -10 leafs,take stem too.

    3. Turmeric powder(Haldi) – 1/4th tsp

    4. Ginger powder – 1/2 tsp

    5. Neem giloyi. 1 strand

    6. Black pepper – 1/4th tsp

    7.Lemon – Half

    #In winter we can add laung/clove too.

    Method of preparation :

    Soak everything overnight in 3 cup of water.. Boil in the morning and make it 2 cup. Squeeze 7 to 8 drops of lemon in the cup and pour the hot kadha.

    If you forgot to soak, no need to worry, add everything in he morning and then boil.

    • It is good if you take this Decoction in the morning empty stomach. Or set any time you are comfortable in taking the kadha.
    • Maintain a gap of at least half n hour between kadha and other thing like tea or any fruits or anything you want to eat.
    • Don’t take bath immediately after taking kadha.

After this, wash your face with lukewarm water and you will notice a considerable decrease in the redness caused by the acne and pimples on your skin.

    ##Such usage of Rose petals for oily skin can help in reducing blemishes also. In the same pack, you can replace Honey with a pinch of Turmeric powder, which will help in removing dead cells from the skin, thereby helping the skin to grow healthy and shiny. Regular usage of this Beauty tip of Rose petals can also improve your skin complexion.

    ##Prepare a mixture of one tablespoon of Gram Flour, one tablespoon of Curd and one tablespoon of Cream (Malai) and add a pinch of Turmeric powder to it. Mix them well and apply this pack on your face. Leave it for some time till it gets dry. Then wash it off with water.

    ##Take 1 tablespoon of Rose powder and add 1 teaspoon of honey to it and mix well. Apply on to thoroughly cleansed face and wash off after 30 mins. Soak well before use.

    ##Add Rose petals powder in leftover shakes😜 that we usually prepare for our family and apply it on face and neck.Like,banana shake,papaya shake,apple shake etc.

    ##Simply soak Rose powder with Milk and apply as a pack on face and neck.

    (For any Skin type)

    ##You can directly apply Rose powder just by adding Rose water to it. It acts as a simple cleanser that removes all dirt and makes your skin glowing.

    ##Make a paste of almond and rose petals and apply directly on your face. This rose face pack removes dead skin cells and it makes your skin feel smooth and look brighter.

                                      How to do rose Facial  

    We waste so much of  money to make our skin youthful and glowing by purchasing lots of expensive beauty products. Lets give a chance to our nature to make our skin bright,clear and clean.☺

    #Red Indian roses mildly deep cleans the skin, removes the dead cell and sea wounds.

    #It works as a natural moisturizing agent by hydrating the skin.

    #It tightens the skin and it shrink the open pores and control the excess oil  production.

    #It has an anti inflammatory properties that soothes the acne and inflammation.

    #It has high amount of vitamin-c that helps in sun protection.

    ##Step 1 : Cleanser

    • 1 tsp of rose powder
    • 1 tsp of powdered oats
    • Mix both the ingredients and make a fine paste with the help of rose water.
    • Apply on your face and neck and cleanse the skin properly. Rub in circular motion for 2-3 minutes and then wash off.

               Oats is very mild for our skin and it suits all skin types.

    ##Step 2 : Scrub

    • Take 1 tsp of rose powder
    • Add in 1 tsp of brown/white sugar, 1 tsp of lemon juice,1 tsp of rose water and honey, mix all well.
    • Scrub your face and neck with this mixture for 3 to 4 minutes then wash off with plain water.

    Lemon lighten the skin, sugar removes the dull and dead skin, honey keep the skin hydrated and balance the moisture level

    ##step 3 : Steaming

    • Deep a towel in hot water, squeeze it and cover your face and nect with it.
    • This will open your skin pores, and the black and white heads in our skin loosen up and comes out easily.

    ##Step 4 : Message

    • Mix 1 tsp of rose powder with 1 tsp of thick yogurt/curd.
    • Add 1 vitamin E capsule to it, mix everything well.
    • Message your face and neck with this face cream for 4-5 minutes. If you have oily skin replace curd with alovera gel.
    • Wash off with Luke warm water,

    Yogurt contain high amount  of vitamins and minerals that maintain the youthful of skin. Vitamin E reduces fine lines and wrinkles

    ##Step 5 : Face Mask

    • For mask add 1 tsp of rose powder, 1 tbsp of gram flour, 1 tsp of rose water and 1 tsp of  honey.
    • Mix all well adding and apply on face and neck.
    • Apply a thick layer of this mask, and let it dry completely. Wash off with Luke warm water by rubbing it softly.

    ##Step 6 : Optional Step

    • Freeze some rose powder by adding rose water to it. After facial rub that ice cube in face and neck for two minute. This will close your skin pores and tighten your skin. Leave it for 5 minutes and wash off.

    ##Note :  Do this facial once or twice in a week. With regular use our skin become glowing,brighten,tighten and fairer.

    Ingredients required:

    Bread – 4 slices
    Jam – Fruit/Strawberry( your choice)

    Method of preparation:
    1.Cut the edges of the bread(brown part).
    2.Now take a bread slice and with a rolling pin(belan)  slightly flatten the bread.
    3.Apply jam in one part of the bread.
    4.Roll the bread and cut it into pieces.

    Enjoy kids..your easy pizy snacks is ready to taste.

    Ingredients required

    1. Monaco biscuits – 10 pieces
    2. Cheese slices
    3. ketchup
    4. Onion, tomato slices(optional)
    5. Coriander leafs
    6. Bhujia

    Method of preparation

    1.Take 1 monaco biscuit and put cheese slice to it.
    2. Now put tomato and onion slices and sprinkle chat masala over it.
    3. Cover it with other piece of biscuit.
    4. Garnish it with drop of tomato ketchup, bhujia and coriander leafs.

    3. Bread dahi bada

    This recipe remind me my childhood days. When I was around 10 years old, i used to prepare it by myself at the time of choti choti bhuk. Its a very easy and instant recipe.

    Ingredients required
    1. Bread slices – 4
    2. Sugar – 1tsp
    3. Salt – 1tsp
    4. Roasted cumin powder
    5. Tomato ketchup
    6. Bhujia
    7. Fresh coriander leafs(optional)

     

    Method of preparation

    1.Take chilled curd in a bowl and whisk well.
    2. Add 1 tbsp of water, salt and sugar in the curd and mix well.
    3. With a sharp bowl or mould , cut bread in round shape.
    4. Put the bread in a plate and pour curd to it or you can directly dip the bread in curd.
    5. Sprinkle cumin powder, pinch of salt to it.
    6. Make different faces with sauce , bhujia and coriander leafs.

    4. Jhatpat bhujia sandwich

    This recipe is a good option during traveling  and loved by both kids and elders.

    Ingredients required

    1. Bread slices (cut edges) – 4
    2. Tomato ketchup
    3. Bhujia
    4. Butter( optional)

    Method of preparation

    1. Apply ketchup on one side of the bread.
    2. Apply butter on other bread.
    3. Sprinkle bhujia on the bread where you had applied ketchup.
    4. Cover it with butter applied bread.
    5. Cut it in traingle shape and enjoy the dish.

    5. Healthy bhel

    It is a all time hit evening snacks.

    Ingredients required

    1. Murmure/ puffed rice/ mudhi – 1cup
    2. Bhujia – 1tbsp
    3. Finely chopped veggies – onion, tomato, cucumber, coriander leafs
    4. Mustard oil – 1tsp
    5. Salt, chat masala(optional)

    Method of preparation

    Mix all the ingredients well and enjoy jhal mudhi.

    Soft Soft Rava Mini idli..- Healthy and Tasty

    I came to know about Mini Idli after my marriage, it is a very regular and famous dish prepared in almost  every house of Bhilwara. Finally I also tried my hands in it when I noticed that my daughter is showing much more interest in small small idli rather than big one. It is very common among every mother, what their choosy little customer loves to eat become the most common dish prepared in their kitchen. Same happened with me also.😃

    My daughter loves to eat it in different styles, some time with her tiny foke, sometimes with toothpicks, sometimes as paneer tikka 😋..Actually we can serve to our guest and family in all these styles too.😎 Mini idlis are good in lunch box too.

    Ingredients required

    • 1 cup=250 ml
    • 1/2 kg soojii/Semolina( rava)-  you can increase or decrease the quantity according to requirement.
    • Dahi/curd/yogurt( fresh or sour) – 1 cup
    • Water – to make the batter smooth, add accordingly & as required to get a medium consistency batter, which is neither thick nor thin.
    • Salt- 1 tsp
    • ENO/ baking soda- 1 pouch or 1/2 tsp soda(optional)

    Ingredients for frying the idli

    • Onion,cabbage,capsicum,carrot
    • Grate carrot and chop all the veggies in a very small pieces.
    • Ginger garlic paste
    • Tomato ketchup – 2 tsp
    • Soya sauce – 1 tsp
    • Black pepper, salt , red chilly

    Method of Preparation

    1. Mix rava , curd , salt and water in a big bowl well.
    2. Keep aside covered for 20-30 minutes. After 20-30 minutes, if the batter looks thick, then add a few tablespoons of water to get a medium consistency. Rava absorbs water  so the batter might thicken after 20 to 30 minutes.
    3. Separate half batter and add half pouch of ENO / baking soda (1/4 tsp) to it .Mix well for 1/2 minute for fluffy idli
    4. After adding ENO, you will notice small bubbles in the batter.
    5. Heat water in a steamer, electric cooker or pressure cooker.
    6. Pour  little quantity of  rava idli batter in greased mini idli moulds. Use small spoon to pour the batter.
    7. Place the mini idli stand in the  steamer and cover it well and allow it to steam for 5-7  minutes .
    8. Remove the mini idlis from the mould with the help of a sharp spoon.
    9. Repeat the process for the remaining batter.

    Process of Frying

    • Put 1 tsp of oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and curry leaves to it.
    • Now add ginger garlic paste , saute it well and add all other veggies to it.
    • Grate the carrot instead of chopping.
    • Mix it well, add salt, black pepper and red chilly.*Read note
    • Add sauces and mix it well.
    • Now slowly add mini idlies to it. Mix it carefully so that the idli doesn’t break down.
    • No need to cook much, just ensure all idlies warped properly with veggies and sauces.

     

    These idli batter can also be used to prepare normal idli with or without idli stand. I specifically bought the mini idli stand from amazon and is really good. Have a look, hope it is useful for you too. This stand can be easily dit in normal idli steamer.

     

    Note:

    • Mini idli can be given to 9 month+ baby. Can be given   as a finger food to babies.
    • Red chilly is completely optional if given to babies.

    Researchers show that half of the child’s adult intelligence is formed during the first 5 years.

    That is why it is very important that parents have to provide their child the best possible environment at home and choose a preschool which has a stimulating environment that will shape his entire life.

    Our little ones brain is just like a blank paper and we parents work for them as a permanent marker, what we tell them , what we do in-front of them all get imprinted in their mind forever.

    Kids have the urge to know about everything that surrounds them. Their mind is full of curiosities and new ideas. Its the duty of parents to listen and answer all their curiosities and make them satisfied.

    Want to share today’s incident with all mothers. When I took my daughter for a nap after lunch, I always ask her to put questions which came in her little mind about anything .That’s my daily routine because its very common in every children, when we ask them to sleep that was the time when they talk the most. 😁So I decided to let her talk for a while instead of saying again and again, “soo jao  bacha soo jao”.

    So today she asked “mumma bedsheets kaise banti hai”, Wow I feel so good and surprised that her little mind think so much. I started answering her, after some time she said, mumma google pe pics dikhao na printing factories ki. I was just like😳 haww.😃

    One thing I learned from today’s incident, what terms we parents use in our day to day life , out little one catches that easily, it doesn’t matter how tricky it was.
    Experts says learning power in growing babies are much more in comparison to adults.
    It’s really true. Whatever we teach our kids in there childhood, they remember it life long.

    I have not spend much time to get her learn all this. Just made her  fooding time a quality time.
    I tell you feeding a baby is one of the most challenging task for mothers. My daughter spend half an hour easily to finish half paratha. So I decided to enjoy this time instead of loosing my patience.

    I taught her many rhymes , family members name , her relation with them, birth date of her, our house address. I think these are the first things we should teach our baby when they started to understand things. Alphabet and numbers are the second think after that . In between some general knowledge questions can be taught, and really kids enjoyed grasping it. One most important think , don’t forget to reward your kids with “excellent, brilliant, awesome, good beta,love you beta, you are the best etc. These word helps in building their confidence and encourage them to always learn something new.

    Wow one of my childhood favorite fruit has so many benefits. I never knew about it’s benefits, I used to eat it only because of its taste. Every year after my marriage I used to prepare its pickle. It just tastes wow(mouth watering). In my childhood my badi mummy(taiji) used to prepare it and I watched her every step and help her too just because of the greediness of eating it. But all the steps just printed out in my mind. I had so much carving of ber fruit and its pickle in my pregnancy period. That was the first time I tried my hand in preparing its pickle.

    It is known in different places with different names and can be found in the market from November to March.

    Hindi name – Ber,
    Telugu name- Regu chettu
    Tamil name – Ilandai
    English Name: Indian Jujube, ber, Chinee apple, jujube, Indian plum
    Kannada name – Bore hannu, Bore mara

    Firstly go through its benefits so that you feel the urge of eating it and preparing its Khataa meetha pickle at home.

    1. It contains 20 to 30% sugar, up to 2.5% protein and 12.8% carbohydrates.

    2. Ber fruits are also known to contain 18 of the 24 essential amino acids that the body needs. This is probably why it was used in an ancient Indian and Chinese herbal medicine and still continues to be a prominent part of Ayurveda and Chinese medicine.

    3. Ber fruit is known to prevent cancer. It is full of anti-oxidant.

    4. It has no carbohydrates or fats and are abundant in fiber. This makes them highly nutritional while not adding to weight when eaten as snacks. Therefor good for loosing weights.

    5. It boost our immune system, keep our teeth,bones and muscles healthy.

    6. Ber fruit is known to aid with digestion and absorption. People suffering from digestive problem, constipation and flatulence can take this fruit for relief. In case of diarrhea  avoid it.

    7. It keeps the skin healthy and young, sooth the sore throat, sooth the nervous system.

    0 Side effects:
    There are no known side effects with Ber fruit and its tree parts. Its fruits are commonly consumed during pregnancy, lactating mothers and by children.

    Note:

    1. Carry  ber pickle while traveling, it prevents vomiting if journey doesn’t suits you.
    2. Ber pickle can be taken after lunch, it helps in digestion.

    Ber fruit are available for shorter period, hence preparing its pickle can helps us to be in tough with it for longer period and the ingredients I have added to it also helps in digestion.

    Ingredients required

    1. Ber fruit -1kg(increase quantity according to requirement)

    2. Salt, rock salt,black salt – take 1/2tsp all of three

    3. Roasted cumin seeds powder – 1tsp

    4. Garam masala- 1/2 tsp

    5. black pepper powder -1/2tsp

    6. Jaggery/gud powder – 1tbsp (if you have jaggery pieces, just grate it)

    7. Sugar – 1tbsp (you can replace sugar with 1tbsp of jaggery)

    8. mustard oil – 2tsp(optional)

    Method of preparation

    1. Firstly wash ber fruit well and sun dry it completely. Now remove its tinka (black color thin pipe at the top of the fruit)from every single fruit.   

    2. Cut it from both sides with knife.

    3. Add all the ingredients(except mustard oil) to it and mix well.

       4.Now sun dry it atleast for a week after covering it with net. Net prevents the pickle from flies and dust.

    5. Mix it well 2 to 3 times in a day when it is under sun light. Sugar and jaggery melts and mixed well in this period. After 3 to 4 days you can add just 1 to 2 tsp of mustard oil, this will increase its life, make it shiny, non sticky and more healthy and tasty.

    6.When its stickiness gone completely, it is ready to preserve for more than a year.😀

    You can see the change in color when it is ready to be preserved. Now I am going to enjoy it yupieee💃.

    Now it is ready to parcel, one bottle for my dear sister-in law and the other one is for my 2 naughty brothers. Three of us just loved its taste.

    Today I tried a healthy sandwich, with beetroot stuffing. And guess  what? Everyone in my family enjoyed it in the same way they enjoy other sandwiches , but this time I was much more happy while serving it to the family because I was serving a tasty as well as a healthy dish to my loved one. My choosy daughter showed so much interest in it mainly because of its color.

     

    The exact reason behind preparing this sandwich is something else actually, my father-in-law bought 3 kg’s of beetroot, and I was feeling quite lazy in extracting its juice. So thought of using in different dishes. One comes out well. Bahut baate ho gai friends . I think now I have to focus in its recipe. So follow along with me…

     

    I prepared this sandwich in just a few minutes because it doesn’t require much effort. This sandwich can taste good with any bread, for trial purpose I used both multigrain and white bread.

    Ingredients Required (for 8-10 Sandwiches)

    1. One medium sized beet root(grated)

    2. 1 grated carrot

    3. 1 finely chopped onion (you can increase the quantity as required)

    4. 1 Boiled mashed potato(for binding)

    5. Ginger,garlic,green chilly paste-1/2 tsp (omit green chilly if preparing for your little one)

    6. Salt to taste, garam masala -a pinch

    7. Dried mango powder -1/2tsp or lemon juice

    8. Red chilly powder – according to taste(optional)

    9. oil – 1tsp

    10. Bread slices(white/brown/multigrain) any

    Method of preparation

    1. Heat 1tsp of oil in a pan/kadhai and add ginger garlic,chilly paste to it ,saute it for 3 to 4 second

    2. Add onion,beetroot and carrot to it. Saute it in low to medium flame so that it is cooked well.

    3. Add all the spices including salt to it.

    4. Now add mashed potato and mix it well. Cook it just for 1 minute in high flame and then switch off the gas.

    5. Now add lemon juice to it.

    6. Stuffing is ready for the sandwich.

    7. Now take 2 bread slices, apply coriander chutney in one side of a bread and  tomato ketchup in one side of the next bread as shown in the picture. Now Apply the stuffing in one of the bread slices and cover it with another bread.

       8. Apply butter in both sides and roast it in sandwich toaster.

       9. Cut it in 3 pieces for sandwich sticks or you can give any shape like triangle or square shape.

    Note:

    1. This sandwich is good in lunch box too.
    2. Good for 1 year plus baby if using brown or multigrain bread.

    Is my milk is enough?

    Since we cannot measure the number of ounce of milk a breastfeed baby gets, many mothers wonder whether it is enough. Remember, it is Nature’s food for the baby, the same nature that nourished the baby inside the womb and made it form into a little human being.

    If you feel you are producing less milk, all you have to do is feed more often. Each time you fed your baby your body release prolactine harmons which further simulate the formation of milk.
    If you skip a feed in the hope of storing more milk for the next feed, it will not work, for the less you feed, the more your milk supply will dwindle.

    I consulted many mothers, elderly women, gynecologist and other sources before compiling the list of food below. It may vary for each individuals. What works for one might not work for another. So you have to find out what works best for you.😘

    Foods that increase breast milk production:

    Here are some tips ,tricks & foods that promote milk production and make your little one’s tummy satisfied..😋

    1. Cumin seeds/Jeera –

    • Roast and grind cumin seeds and add them as a seasoning to your dals, curries or other vegetable preparations.
    • You can also add them to raitas, chaat and buttermilk.
    • Alternately, you can soak some cumin seeds in a glass of water and drink it early in the morning to improve lactation.

    2. Fenugreek seeds (methi):

    • You can use  fenugreek seeds in curries as a chauk.
    • Can eat sprouted seeds with milk or can use the powdered form of it.
    • Try fenugreek Tea, really a healthy choice. Just boil 1 tsp of methi seeds in water, strain it and drink when warm.
    • Soak methi seeds in a glass of water for 7-8 hours and drink it empty stomach in the morning.
    • You can have methi laddoo as famous Indian dessert for new moms.
    • Just powdered its seed and pack it in a jar, you can sprinkle it in chaas/buttermilk , dal or in raita too.

     Note: If you are prone to asthma or allergies, use fenugreek with caution.

    3. Ajwain/Carom seeds

    My mother – law prepared ajwain panjiri for me after my delivery. She said it will give energy, cleans the stomach properly and increase the milk supply. Some also say that drinking ajwain water speeds up recovery after childbirth.

    #How to consume :
    Grind carom seeds, make powder. Roast it in a pan with some home made ghee, can add dryfruit powder, some amount of sugar powder. Have it with milk at least for one month.

    4. Saunf/Fennel seeds

    It passes through breast milk to help the baby’s digestion and relieve symptoms of colic.

    #How to consume :

    Grind it and add dry coconut powder to it and little quantity of sugar. Have it anytime as a mouth freshner. It taste really good.😋

    Place 8 ounces (1 cup) of boiling water in a pan with 1 to 3 teaspoons of fennel seed (freshly crushed is preferred) and steep for approximately 10 minutes. The tea can be consumed three times a day.

    5. Garlic

    Herbalists have long embraced garlic as a beneficial supplement to nursing mothers’ diets. The herb’s distinctively pungent odor does not appear to bother most nursing babies and may in fact encourage babies to nurse longer  according to experts.Longer successful nursing helps a nursing mother maintain an adequate supply of breast milk and allows the nursing baby to feed until he is satisfied.

    Apart from increasing the breast milk production, the ingredient improves health conditions of both mother and her baby.

    Shatavari powder (about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon for starters) is traditionally taken mixed in a glass of warm milk, with  sugar (sucanat) if desired. You can also prepare asparagus soup . Asparagus available in powdered form known as “Shatavari Kalpa” . It is a known galactogouge.

    When mothers consume cow’s milk, they have greater amounts of secretory IgA in their breast milk. Secretory IgA is a type of antibody that lines the infant’s intestinal tract to form a barrier capable of neutralizing threats that come down the pipe. Breast feeding should have at least 2 to 3 glasses of milk.

    After my delivery my mother in law give milk daliya(sweet) or daliya upma(salty) to me on daily basis. It is actually very healthy to have . It enhances breast milk supply.

    11. Pulses – Dal is a good source of protein and fiber which is very essential for a mother. Dal especially the red lentils or masoor dal is said to improve lactation. Include moong dal also in your diet because it is easily digestible and healthy too. Prepare garlic, palak dal, just by adding spinach and garlic at the time of boiling.     What to avoid

    During the phase of exclusive breast feeding(six month period) take proper care of your diet and avoid smoking, alcohol, spicy and gassy food which causes gas.

    • You may have been told that you should drink lots of water to keep up your milk supply, but in reality drinking lots of water, or indeed going a bit thirsty, won’t affect the amount of milk you make. Your body is good at regulating its reserves to make sure it keeps your milk supply going. You only need to drink enough to satisfy your thirst while you’re breastfeeding.
    • No need to be over conscious about your diet during breast feeding, take normal balanced, healthy diet and enjoy motherhood. Stay calm and relaxed.😌

    Most of us know the benefits of ginger, tulsi(basil leaf), raw turmeric but still, I want to tell some more about it so that you may get the urge of preparing this milk for your family.

    Many mother have the query that their baby catches cold frequently and what should be added to milk to make it more healthy and tasty. So I am here with a very easy and healthy solution for all worried moms.😘

    Benefits of Turmeric milk

    Turmeric milk is an infusion of either dry turmeric powder or fresh turmeric root (rhizome) in milk.

    • Boost immunity Turmeric milk is an excellent tonic to improve your immunity against lots of diseases. It is especially useful in cold and flu because of its antiviral effect. Make a habit of giving a cup of turmeric milk on an empty stomach in the morning or just before bedtime at night to the whole family including your darling one.

    • The combination of hot milk and tulsi comes with antibacterial properties that can cure conditions such as sore throat, common cold and dry cough, when consumed regularly.

     

    Ingredients required:

    1. 1-inch raw turmeric (kachi haldi) piece/1 teaspoon turmeric powder
    2. 1 -inch raw ginger / 1 tsp ginger powder
    3. Basil / tulsi leaves (11 or more)
    4. Milk
    5. Sweetener – sugar/palm sugar/jaggery. (optional)

    It is very comforting to drink this milk on a cold night and cold morning.

    Method of preparation

    Take a glass of water in a pan and allow it to boil, when the water started boiling add grated ginger , turmeric  and tulsi to it.


    Now lower the flame. When 1/4th of water remain add sweetener( sugar/ jaggery/  palm candy any one of these). Sweetener is completely optional. I used small quantity of jaggery.

    When the sweetener dissolve completely strain this yellow water to the hot milk. Allow the milk to boil just for few seconds so that all the ingredients dissolve well in milk.


    You can also use any of these ingredients separately according to your requirements.
    Earlier I used to boil these ingredients directly in milk, but this leads to the thickening of milk  because of continuous boiling and become  heavy to digest specially for kids.

     

    Note:

    • Check for allergies before you consume turmeric milk. Those reporting allergic reactions experience mild and itchy rashes, typically on the neck or face.
    • Pregnant women should avoid taking too much of turmeric as it can cause uterine wall contractions.
    • Over dose of anything is harmful. An overdose can cause heartburn, indigestion, diarrhea, nausea, liver troubles.
    • If you like palm candy, add it instead of sugar, it goes very well with this milk and healthy too.
    • Good for 2year plus baby.

    • Sabudana is a source of protein, vitamin K and metallic nutrients such as calcium and iron which is necessary for a baby to grow. It plays a vital role in the growth, nourishment and healing of muscles whereas the rest are responsible for maintaining the bone’s health and flexibility. It can definitely be your baby’s first food.”
    • Sabudana can be easily digested; it can also alleviate constipation,  and other tummy troubles such as gas, flatulence, diarrhea, and bloating that are very common in the first year for a baby.
    • Tapioca contains a lot of starch, which is packed with the right carbohydrates that would help your baby be energised throughout the day.

    • Good during pregnancy : Tapioca contains folic acid and vitamin B complex which help in the proper formation of a foetus, protecting it against common birth defects like neural tube defect.

    Home remedies for diarrhea in babies : Sabudana Porridge (साबूदाना खिचडी)

    Ingredients required

    1. Sabudana – 1tbs
    2. Water – 1cup
    3. Cumin powder – a pinch
    4. Salt – a pinch(for one year+ baby)
    5. Curd – 1tsp(good during loose motion)

    Method of preparation

    • Wash sabudana well, then soak it for at least 4 to 5 hours in water.
    • Now add the soaked sadubada with water in pressure cooker, add some more water if required.
    • Allow it to cook for 3 to 4 whistle. Add cumin powder and salt.
    • Grind it well, and make a smooth paste.
    • Feed this to your baby. I am sure he will like its taste. :-)
    • Curd or chaas can also be added. if baby have loose motion add curd definitely, it will increase its taste and nutritional value too.
    Wash sabudana well, then soak it for at least 4 to 5 hours in water.

    Diarrhea – causes, solution and home remedies for infants and kids

    I can easily feel the pain of a mother when their baby is suffering from loose motion. It doesn’t matter sometimes that how careful you are…it can be happened with many reasons

    Some are …..

    1.When baby is on exclusive breastfeed and sometimes mother take lots of spicy food. I remember when my daughter is in her 3rd month and I have eaten lots of golgappa(panipuri)– a spicy Indian roadside food😋 Next day it shows its effect and my daughter started passing loose stool many times😰

    Solution : Mother please avoid heavy and spicy food when baby is on exclusive breast feed.

                    2. Children have a common habit of taking their hand or anything they found in their mouth. When they touch germy surface and take their fingers in their mouth . It become a reason for loose motion.

    Solution:

    •  Always sanitize the area where the baby plays  by cleaning with a good floor disinfectant cleaner.
    •  Always wash yours and your baby/kid’s hands with hand wash /anti bacterial wipes.

          

    3. Food allergy :

    Food allergies are much more common amongst children who come from families where other members suffer from allergy. There are many signs of food allergies, sometimes mucusy, sometimes bloody, diarrhea is one of them. Milk protein allergy is one of the most common allergy seen in kids.

    Solution:

    • Avoid dairy products, except yogurt.
    • Cow’s milk-based formula – If the diarrhea is severe and has lasted more than 3 days, we suggest you switch to a soy formula for two weeks while the intestines have time to heal. Intestines that have been damaged by severe diarrhea cannot digest cow’s milk.
    • Apple juice, pear juice and cherry juice – The high sorbitol sugar content of these juices can worsen diarrhea. White grape juice is a good alternative.
    • Note – It is virtually never necessary to temporarily stop breastfeeding during the course of a diarrhea illness.

                  4. Food intolerance : Some food are heavy to digest .

    Solution:

    Kindly choose food items that are easily digestible for babies.

              5. Intestinal Infections : Diarrhea can be caused by rota virus which affects the intestine and prevents absorption of nutrients from the food consumed. It causes very foul smelling, watery, green or brown diarrhea that can persist for weeks. Fever and vomiting are common at the onset of the illness.

    Solution:

    Consult doctor as soon as possible.
    6. Drinking too much fruit juice Effects  Baby Diarrhea
    When baby/kids have loose motion, the body become loose and baby show very less interest in playing because of weakness. When my daughter have a severe loose motion she is nine month old. She don’t want to crawl and even don’t want to sit, become very cranky.
    Baby loose weight, grow weak and feel tiredness due to dehydration.

    Diarrhea can be tackle well if proper food is given to our little one. These are some food or you can call it remedies that helps to stop loose motion and give strength.

    • When baby is below six months breastfeed him or formula feed as and when the baby demands. This will helps to keep him hydrated. If your baby can’t keep the milk down, call your baby’s doctor.
    • Mother can do is change in their diet include lots of green vegetables and fruits and avoid any meat and spicy food because your diet will reflect their feeding diet.
    • Nutmeg /jaiphal is a wonderful remedy for stomach pain, indigestion and other stomach disorders in infants, children and adults. Rub nutmeg in your nipple then feed your baby if baby is below six. For  six months plus baby add nutmeg paste in breast milk, and give 1/4th tsp at a time to your baby. Repeat it twice in a day.   Rub nutmeg in a clean stone with some water to get its paste.nutmeg
    • If the baby is  6 month+ ORS can be given to keep him hydrated. If ORS is not available  add 1tsp of salt and 1tsp of sugar in a cooled boiled water.     • Buttermilk(7month+) is considered to be a health drink in India and is very effective in soothing the digestive system and bringing it back on track. The acid in the buttermilk has the ability to fight bacteria and germs and to soothe your digestive system. Here is the recipe of preparing a effective buttermilk 
    • Pomegranate (7month+) is a fruit that will help in reducing the loose motion problems that our little one is suffering from. Blend the pomegranate seeds in a mixer and extract its juice.Give  this juice at least three times a day for effective results. Quantity as taken by your baby easily.
    • Curd-Rice is a very comforting meal option during the episode of diarrhea, most of the kids likes it too. Good bacteria in curd helps fighting the diarrhea. Add pinch of salt and cumin powder for good result and taste too.
    • Boiled potatoes (for 8month +) is loaded with carbs which makes it ideal to provide during loose motions. Prefer white potatoes when your baby has diarrhea.  It is  rich in starch and carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins and the best thing about it is most of the babies love its taste.     • Coconut WaterIt is rich in electrolytes, such as sodium and potassium, which is very effective at preventing diarrhea and dehydration. We can give it to our 6 month plus baby.

    • Lemon Water – It is an excellent remedy to stop loose motion. It is believed to soothe irritation in the intestines and kills the pathogens causing the diarrhea. Make a Juice of 1 lemon, mix with a glass of water, add a pinch of salt or sugar, and offer your baby. Don’t add sugar/salt for babies below one year
    • Moong dal soup is very healthy and good during loose motions too. It give strength to the body. Don’t use ghee when baby is suffering from loose motion. Check its recipe here.

    • Stewed apple – It helps keep the bowels regular (avoiding constipation, avoiding diarrhea). Please keep in mind that one should avoid apple juice during loose motion as its has more of sugar found in the apple. Check its recipe here.
    • Boiled carrot : My daughter love steamed carrot. When babies suffering from diarrhea they become cranky and don’t want to eat much. That time boiled carrot helps you . Its taste is loved by almost all kids. Pressure cook it for one whistle and give it to your baby either in mashed form or as a finger food according to the age of your baby.
    • Idly : Idli is a very light food with zero spices. It is easy to digest and bind the stomach.
    • Shahi jeera : Soak it in water for two three hours, sieve it ,warm it and give this to your baby.jeera
    • Bael juice is also good for people who are suffering from dysentery or loose motion.beal

     

    Note:

    1. Avoid ready made food and give home made food.
    2. Make sure babies toys are washed before giving it to him.
    3. Mother should take care of her food if baby is on breastfeed.
    4. Visit doctor immediately if condition remain same for more than 2 to 3 days.

  • remedies for gas

    • Apply hing around navel. U should give hing with one spoon water or mix the hing with breast feed .
    • Avoid chana daal, cholle, rajma, tuver daal, potato, cabbage, cauliflower, brinjal n papad. Chew saunf afta every meal. Give colic aid or neopeptine drops to yo baby
    • Once the baby turns over in a month or two, colic problem will stop by itself. So you can make a choice to endure. Till then, on a betal leaf, apply a little castor oil, just make it warm by showing it above a flame (gas). It should just become warm, bearable hot(not hot/ burnt) Then place it on the baby’s stomach (avoid the naval). The betal leaf will stick to the stomach, Once the gas goes, it will fall off / you can take after some time. I have also used something called vasambu applied externally on the stomach (http://a1tamilnadu.com/vasambu-for-babies/). Vasambu is used for pretty much any ailment smile emoticon in my hometown. None of the paediatric drops – Colic aid…& so many worked for my daughter, so this is what I did.
    • Colic is very common among babies and it will vanish in another one or two months.. But if it very bothersome you can try giving saunf water (same as colic aid syrup without any chemicals). – put a teaspoon of saunf in 2 cups of water and boil.. Strain and give two spoons to baby while slightly warm.. You can give this thrice in the day (like our meal timings morning noon n night).. Safe and no side effects.. I’ve done this with my daughter. Hope this helps.. Also burping after every feed is a must and gentle massage in clockwise direction around the naval is also helpful
      • put her on your shoulder for 15 minutes and try to make her burp even if she is sleeping. I know it gets tiring, but does help a lot. I used to track 15 minutes on a clock literally.

    • Mix half a spoon of hing with water to make a sticky paste out of it.
      Apply this paste on your baby’s tummy in a clockwise direction around the navel area when she is feeling colicky.
      Remember the paste should not touch the navel. You can press a wet cotton ball on the navel while applying the paste.
      Alternatively, mixing hing with olive oil or mustard oil can also give you the same results.
      After application of the paste, allow it to cool and dry on its own.
      It might take some time for the hing to work on your child’s colic and give relief, but results are usually good.
      Once the paste dries, try to burp your baby which will give relief from the gas and reduce stomach pain. Here is the right way to burp your baby.
      After a while, wipe off the area with a wet washcloth
    • Mustard oil or hing milake navel pe lagao…it help alot

    By first birthday your child should be eating from the family pot 3-4 times in a day. He should take only 2-3 breast feeds and mostly eat everyday household food and seasonal fruits.

    When my daughter turned one, I was so happy to introduce all varieties of food that are restricted to below one year baby like honey, cow milk etc.

    Here I provide a sample food chart for one year baby with lots of variety. Choose food according to your child interest and availability.

    Morning time:

    A cup of whole cream milk. Quantity of milk some time varies as my daughter very rarely finished one cup.☹

    Breakfast:

    1. Ragi uttapam / Soft idli
    2. Home made cerelac
    3. Semolina vegetable Upma/Moong daal chilla
    4. suji/rava pancake
    5. Small dosa with coconut/peanut chutney (minus chillies)
    6. Stuffed /Plain Paratha with curd
    7. 1/2 bowl of milk with cornflakes and ½ banana
    8. 1/2  bowl of vegetable poha
    9. 1 cheese potato sandwich
    10. 1 vegetable sandwich
    11. Wheat seera/halwa(will share the recipe soon)
    12. 1/2 bowl suji halwa you can add powdered cashews and almonds
    13. Oats porridge with dates puree
    14. Roti sabzi
    15. 1/2 cup dalia made with milk and add some nut powdered(almond,cashew nut etc.)
    16. 1 scrambled egg with buttered toast
    17. 1 Omelette with buttered toast.

    Finger sucking is often a symptom of hunger, boredom, shyness, teething, fatigue and sleep.

    Some newborn babies put their fingers in the mouth as a signal of hunger. But around 3 month they again start putting their fingers in the mouth. Actually every child do this differently.

    • When my daughter started sucking her thumb she is just 3  months old. That time she looks so cute while sucking thumb and everyone say please don’t take her thumb out. Just watch her cuteness, but later it becames her addiction and weakness. she needs it badly while sleeping mainly.😢
